This is an agreement that allow companies to use Philips' patented technology when manufacturing DVD-A players. In this case Philips is the LICENSER, not the LICENSEE. As everyone should know, Sony and Philips hold key patents in DVD technology, of which DVD-A is a subset. In order to manufacture a DVD player there are a number of companies from which you have to license patents. Philips is one of those. Philips holds patents in some key areas of DVD-A technology, and licenses those patents, even though it does not currently utilize that technology in its consumer products.MLP is not a PHILIPS technology, and is not included in the docs.
