Well I've just tried it and it does work. But the quality is nothing to shout about. I played the Avalon SACD in stereo mode, took the output from my Sony deck into my PC and recorded in Sound Forge at 96/24. Then I normalised the signal and used DVD+Audio to convert to a DVD Audio file. I then wrote to a DVD using Nero 6. The resulting discs would play on my home (Yelo) DVD deck. It also played on my Sony DVP-NS700V SACD /DVD deck. Sound was toppy and thin. Playing the original Avalon disc on the Sony gave the usual full round sound. So it works but I'm not impressed. If any one has suggestions for improving the result I'll have another go.
