New DVD-Audio music releases and talk about the latest players.

Re: I believe ZS KEKL is correct this time. If the "Dual Discs" are mixed in with the CDs at the chain stores....

DualDisc does mean that there will be no sacd content on the dvd side.

It isn't too late. The pcm recordings are far in the majority.
Hires pcm recording are rapidly becoming the routine.

Sacd might have bit more titles, in the grand scheme of things it's still only a drop in the ocean. Just as the broader 'support'.
As far as the industry is concerned, both formats have stalled in the market. Sacd is only slightly ahead because Sony and Philips pushed it ahead by subsidising.
Too few players are sold with sacd capability as far as the music industry is concerned.

The dualsided concept was indeed tried for dvd. Obviously it didn't succeed because DVD V music sales are also small part of the market.

Now there is a difference as the concept is now tried for cd albums which represents still the biggest music market.
It will get a lot more attention in the market.

Sacd2 will kill sacd. Sony can't afford another stunt like they did with sacd. It will arouse too much confusion in the market.
It will take at least 5 years for a hires dvd/blueray format to gain sufficent market share. The music industry isn't going to wait that long.

DualDisc will directly compete with sacd in the music market.
(chances are it will be a walkover)
It might restrict hires DVD Audio content in the short run but in the long run the spec and the possibilty to create full fledged DVD Audio content survives.

The fact that Sony participates is very telling.
