I have received an e-mail today from Pioneer Spain acknowledging the problem and saying they are ready to address it. They say it can be fixed by a software update (or firmware update, if you will). I encourage all European users of the Pioneer 565A to contact your local Pioneer offices so that they address the problem. As a result of this news, I went out and bought Steely Dan's "Gaucho" DVD-Audio and played it on my 565. This is one of the disks affected by the incompatibility and, true to fact, it does not play the MLP soundtrack. All screens function perfectly, but when one selects a song from the MLP list to play the time numbers move on the front display showing that the machine is reading the file, but no sound is heard.
I will have to make do with the Dolby Digital DVD-Video track while I get it fixed.
