With sacd spdif is not allowed.Hires from DVDA through the spdiff is possible (stereo only) but it depends on player and copy/protection settings on the actual disc itself.
Not all players allow 24/96 from the digital out. Pioneer, Denon and Panasonic allow it on their models.
DVD Audio's that allow 24/96 are from Hires, AIX, EMI titles (classic titles from EMI allow 24/48) no doubt that a few other labels allow it too.
Homegrown DVDA's created with Discwelder also allow 24/96 out.
