There's an interesting thread on General (see link), starting with an article in Positive Feeback, which is a portrait and interview of David Manley. The man has enormous experience in the field, and seems totally unimpressed with DSD. David Manley's arguments against DSD are not really new, but the interesting thing is that the engineer (based in Paris!) provides some additional information on the current policy to enroll independent labels in SACD releases. (In a thread below I was wondering if SACD mastering was still subsidized, well, I guess the answer is still "yes" :)He also advocates doing the mix and mastering in the same location (makes sense to me), and the equipment he uses is quite interesting.
