regarding digital output & LPCM. For the former, I can choose between 'normal' & 'PCM' (I believe this distinguishes between bitstream & PCM digital output in cases where the receiver can't do it). 'Normal' should send PCM via digital out.For the LPCM set-up, selecting the 'on' position does enable the digital output, but only after downmixing from 96Khz to 48Khz (the 3800 has no setting for 96 vs. 48, per se).
It sounds like I should just go analog at this point. As a newbie, I hadn't even considered what you said about the A/D & D/A conversion in these units. To my knowledge, there is no A/D conversion happening in the AVR 2803 when using the analog output of the DVD, but to be perfectly honest, I don't know. Is there a way to tell for sure?
Thanks again for your thoughts on this.
