You seem to have some form of ground loop going on, but the question remains - is it between source and FP, or FP and amp? What happens when you have the FP connected to amp with no source connected?Do both your source and amp use 3-pronged plugs? If one uses 2 prongs, there is less of a chance of it being involved.
The fact that you're FP is barely passing any signal could be a separate problem, or maybe a grounding screw up at the inputs or outputs that also leads to the hum.
