The more I mentally shopped for new main amps, I kept returning to tubes, and not just any tubes, I wanted triodes, and not just any triode amps but ones without output transformers. What better way to see how well a pair of those work than to install the pair I already own? Surely these 60Watt (into 8) amps are a little short on power, and I'll determine just how short tomorrow the 21st.I started tonite rearranging my amps, removing the 7-channel Outlaw* and moving the left-hand Butler inward against the CC speaker. Got that one wired, too.
* If I biwire and not biamp the Mahlers and biamp the CC, then the two-each M60s and Butlers have just enough channels...12. Of course, single-amping the Mahlers exacerbates the amps' lack of power, but we'll see. I expect the M60s will indeed have insufficient power, so I guess I'll have to buy a pair of new 140-Watt MA-1s. :-)
