Sounds like the OP has gotten at least 30 years out of his unit. So one of the lucky ones.
I had an SA3 for a few years (bought new), then a few years later sold it and picked up a previously owned SA5. Definitely had about half a dozen issues with the SA5 over the decades, but being a DIY person, and with help from the Asylum, costs have been kept to a minimum. (Fingers crossed!) Still the trouble shooting can be frustrating until you find the problem.
So you need to be the type of person who can deal with the anomalies of the product. Do I love my Counterpoint. Absolutely. Would I recommend one to a friend. No, because I would likely be helping him with issues. Sad really.
