Volume control

I'm one of those people who "is concerned in some random way about where the volume knob is..." but it's more about having a useable range of volume adjustments so the music is neither too loud nor too soft. When I'm sitting back and enjoying an LP or CD I like to be able to adjust the volume level (using the remote) to suit the music being played. When the useable range of a volume knob is limited to between the 8:00 and 10:00 positions, it becomes frustrating trying to fine tune the volume level within that narrow range, at least with any of the remote controls I've ever used.

I don't know how much of a hassle it is for designers and manufacturers to provide a range of gain settings (so the useable volume control was more like 8:00 to 2:00) on a preamp and/or power amp but it would be a feature that I think many audiophiles would really appreciate.

Just venting a bit. '-)
