Affordable digital receivers, Panasonic or ...?

Hello,

I'm trying to put together an affordable Magnepan MMG/MMGW surround system as I sell or trade off my older tube gear. I've seen lots of praise for the Panasonic series of Tripath based receivers, but I haven't seen much about any of the other receivers with digital amplifiers.

In particular I'm interested in personal experience with the JVC RX-D302B, because it has video upconversion. I think that Kenwood and Sony are also producing similar products. What I'm looking for here is a comparison of sound quality, since I can work around a lack of features if I have to (this includes putting up with my wife complaining about having to swtich TV inputs).

Is the Panasonic that much better than the rest? Are the other receivers not as well suited for the four ohm Magnepan load?

Thanks for the help,
matt
