i don't see myself ever getting bryston. if i like the sound of the XR-70 (or similarly priced XR-55) i think i'll stay with class-d. brystons are good, but i've read some reviews claiming they aren't great.if i ever upgraded, i'd probably go with acoustic reality or the nufoeces. class-d sounds like just my kind of sound... super fast and revealing. that's why ilove maggies. tubing them seems like a step in the wrong direction to me... take loads of detail... then color it. some people just don't like their sound cool i guess.
one thing that i'm really considering with the panny is using it in biamped mode. i've read a couple of mentions of people using the equally good value behringer dcx2496 room correction unit.
while previous digital equalizers were selling for $2000+, the dcx is about $350 i think and features a crossover to boot. i'm guessing that the people biamping their pannys with this are using the multichannel inputs. it would be better if all of the processing could be done in the digital domain.
it sounds like using an external D/A converter with the pannys isn't really the best investment as any improvements you get will just be redigitized. LOL glad to know that everything on the panny is digital. it would be better to just use digital ins then.
still, even using a second D/A converter in the chain might still be worthwhile as you could feed each MMG 100+100 watts and simply bypass the crossover altogether. i bet that would really make maggies jump to life.
i'm just glad that there's a reasonably priced way to adopt maggies. thank you panasonic!
down the road... if marantz (with their killer D/A converters) comes out with a class-d... i could see upgrading down the road.
