I have the Martin Logan Mosaics and Montages. They were my pick for several reasons. First, I preferred them over box speakers without a doubt. I presume you prefer ribbon sound to box speakers. Second, the Magnepans are too big. Third, I really didn't like what I heard with the Magnepan 1.6s. I heard rolled off highs and bass and a small sweet spot. I only heard the Magnepan in a specialty store but also heard the 3.6s too which were certainly much better than the 1.6s and MLs. But they are too big plus too expensive along with associated electronics.I first got the Montages about a year and a half ago. Their sweet spot is pretty big and you can run them with fairly inexpensive equipment. I really love the sound of the midrange and highs. The Mosaic is even a better speaker. My problem now is that the Montages are in a small room carpeted with a more powerful amp and sound 30x better than the Mosaics in a large tiled room pulling home theater duty. However, the Mosaics sound better than the Montages did in that set up.
The last thing is that I think their strengths go to your musical tastes. If you just like orchestral or similar genres, you would go to electrostatic or the like.
