Yesterday I got a call from the life insurance company saying my term life had expired (as if I didn't know). I had one year left on the policy and I told them that I was not planning to cash it in this year. Today I went to the hospital for a routine test which required injection of local lidocaine and I had a dramatic neurologic reaction (very rare) so I am spending the night in observation for a stroke. It's not a stroke but what do those doctors know :). My first thought as this was happening was "shit I just blew $500K". I found it interesting that the only one who didn't seem upset was me - not the doctor, nurse or my wife - maybe I missed something.
The point is life is a crap shoot and you always lose so be prudent but don't deny yourself that upgrade just because it's a little expensive.
