Yep, you do have to pull Quads out into the room.
If that's the problem, people can always consider the Magnepan on-walls. I don't know why they aren't more widely used in small room/WAF situations. People seem to assume that they're only for home theater, but they're serious speakers in their own right.
Not that I'm second-guessing your decision, I was just a bit confused as to why you'd rejected the Quads.
