I decided on an interim solution... I'm not going to sell my Maggies but keep them - I can do this since we aren't going to sell the old house for a while - and for the new house, I bought a pair of ERA D10s (thanks mbnx01), a pair of ERA D4s for the rear and an ERA D4 LCR for a center channel. I'm going to run these off of a cheap Denon AVR so the whole setup will be like going to someone else's house who doesn't have a clue about audio. Since we will be going back and forth several times a year, she will be exposed to the "bad" (new) system as well as to the "big black monoliths" and I'll see how long it takes for her to conclude for herself that big and black is THE way to go (although I still think Andy has a good idea to have one of her screen stars stenciled on a pair of white sox...).
