RE: How to get maximum slam from Maggies?

Use subwoofers.....dipoles don't slam (you need to understand that first, and maybe?....you bought the wrong speaker type second?), and of course 99% of pop/rock isn't recorded worth a crap anyway?......so any good subwoofer will work fine.

Many dipole users try "MORE POWER"....but that only works up to a point, and still doesn't give point source box type slam. Why?....well because dipoles don't interact with the air around them like point source cone types do.....it's just physics.

My Apogee speakers don't need subwoofers at all.......but when I want bass slam (bass slam is NOT deep bass btw, so set the Rythmik sub for 80-120 hz for rock music)........I turn on my subwoofers and let them do the slam stuff.

All that said: Dipole bass has a better quality of sound over all, and better than any other reproduced bass I've heard from monopoles.....still, nothing is perfect.
