Definitely like others have said, would recommend a more powerful amp to start. In my Magnepan IIIa home theater system, I went from a Parasound HCA-1205A which is rated at 200w/channel into 4ohms to my current Emotiva XPA-5 which is rated at 300w/channel into 4ohms. Wasn't sure at the time if I would hear, if any difference but the Emotiva added much more to the mid/low bass region to my speakers. Sure, it is not bass that can knock the walls down, that is what my Velodyne HGS-12 is there for. You will probably need to add a fast subwoofer if you are seeking bass slam that can knock the walls down yet have finesse for music.
