What does swapping +- speaker leads do that my amp's phase switch doesn't? I'm maybe a little confused!
Now, with an additional variable there is an additional set of tests.
Here's the breakdown. In absolute fairness to the 'scientific method' all must be listened to. If I wanted to be REAL fair, I'd drag the wife into it and ask for her opinion.
Tests:
Mylar front/back: Tweeter in/out: Tweeter spacing wide/narrow Phase +/-
Internal wiring? STD/ swap tweeter phase? :: The number of tests skyrockets as a function of the number of variables.
The phase wiring of drivers is usually because the crossover introduces phase shifts. So, if you are using a first order hi pass you have what....an automatic 90` shift and 2nd order at 180`.
Doesn't the 1.6 have one of each? Isn't the tweeter wired out of phase? Is a rule of thumb of 90` per order OK to use?
Lot's of testing ahead should I get that motivated. I always dread moving stuff around.
Too much is never enough
