You seem conflicted.

Maybe its time to stop buying new toys and just listen to some music for a while. You probably got a lot more pleasure listening to your first real stereo system years ago than you get from all your recent upgrades. Been there, done that. It will ALWAYS only be an approximation of the real thing. What ever you're seeking in a hifi system will ALWAYS be slightly out of reach.

With the possible exception of modding my 1.6's and addressing room issues, I've gotten off the train to nowhere. I haven't made any hardware/cabling changes in two years and have no current plans to do so. I find I can just sit and really enjoy the music and, by extension, my system much more now. I think the presentation is wonderful. I'm not listening just to hear what the system can do anymore, although I do enjoy what it can do. I'm listening to music. Isn't that the purpose after all. Can it sound better? It can always sound better, but it will never be perfect.

One day you seem to want to chuck the whole thing for a mid-fi HT system, the next day you're buying new amps for your MG20.1's. Slow down and smell the roses. :-)
