SmG's....Updated...:)

Ok, I've got my smg's apart, and they need work!

Both have pretty good bass/mid wiring, (It's got continuity) but small breaks abound in the plastic, and the tweeters, (Both sides) need repair, with broken/missing wire in several spots.

I am a pretty good solderer, and have the soldering iron to match, (A professional weller), but am wonering how to silver solder the new wire in place without melting something. I'm thinking along the lines of using a small piece of aluminum or foil between the wire and the plastic. Anyone have any better ideas? And, it seems certain that using this method, i'm going to have some stretched wire on my hands...

Now, repairing the mylar film, what about Kapton tape? I've seen other ideas also. I'm thinking of removing the inner frame from the outer, so I can get to the backside, is that safe?

Thanks for any ideas!

Gene
