Sounds like they have the potential to overwhelm part of what is

so good about maggies-superb mids and detailed highs. At least on the smaller models, I think you'd do better to find a small, fast 'sub' to fill in the lower octaves, without announcing its presence. However, I have no first hand experience with them.

Interestingly, though, apropos of an earlier thread concerning other +/- 500.00 speakers that rival mmg's, it would be interesting to compare those Siver Iris (145.00 each w/x/over, diy open baffle construction) with the maggies. They're very efficient, so with a small tube amp they might surprise and amaze. For the cost, it's almost worth it just to experiment.
