In 1989, MC Hammer put together an all-female hip hop trio, Oaktown's 3-5-7. They came from Oakland, which was where my dad grew up. He'd take us to Hooper's and the nearby narrow and triangular Kasper's hotdogs diner. We don't know how long ago Hooper's went out of business. That store made it seem like it was Easter everyday:-)

Oaktown 3-5-7's "Yeah Yeah Yeah" was their biggest "hit," but you probably would not have been exposed to it, unless you came from, or were then living in, the East Bay.

As for MC Hammer, he was slowly building momentum, before hitting it big in 1990, with "U Can't Touch This." But people have kind of forgotten that, in addition to his own performances, he produced for others, including Oaktown's 3-5-7.
