These are all immersive Dolby Atmos:

I'm expecting the first of these new releases to be outstanding, based on what I heard from Li in the 2015 Tchaikovsky Competition - even amid all the technical whiz kids we have running around the concert circuit these days, Li has stood out for his unbelievable technical mastery. (He finished in a tie for second that year, sharing the prize with Lukas Geniusas.) I'm expecting great things from this guy - the repertoire is Schumann (Arabesque, Davidsbundlertanze), Ravel (Valses nobles et sentimentales), and Stravinsky (Three Scenes from "Petrouchka" - which should be right up his alley!).

I have a few other downloads (from eClassical) of guitar albums by Halasz - they're all very enjoyable. I listened to a bit of the Torroba Sonatina (probably the most famous work on this new album) and thought that the first movement tempo could possibly have been a bit more steady, with less rubato, but that's just undoubtedly personal taste. As heard in 2Ch on my computer system (i.e., not in Dolby Atmos), the sound seemed excellent, with Halasz obtaining a big tone from the instrument.

There are a lot of Faure releases this year because 2024 is the 100th anniversary of his death. I wonder if any of these releases is going to make me like those two cello sonatas he wrote? ;-) OTOH, I've played the smaller pieces on this album myself, and, at a minimum, they're never that bad - and the Sicilienne is a cornerstone in the repertoire of many instruments.

Although there are other recordings I could have included, I think I'll leave it at that for this week.
