Carnegie was '57 and the other sessions were '52-'54? Monk's playing seems to be a bit more against the grain on the earlier sessions. Jaded after 10 years of unrecognition maybe? Both are great though!

It's funny, I once told a friend, regarding Monk's agressive playing, "you'd be pissed off too if you were a genius who was ignored for 15 years until everyone else caught up to you!"
