Manhattan Transfer song I wooed my wife with, LP mint, cut for demo type, $5.50 in 1977; Michael Rabin in Memoriam/F. Slatkin/Hollywood Bowl, ca. 1960, reissue Seraphim Angel, $2.77 in 1978 while I worked the classical counter at Peaches Records in Kansas City, MO. as grad student. Outstanding sonics on both.

Just found me a sealed copy (reissue I'm sure). Sounds good though I doubt as good as an original.

I thought there was no Living Stereo of this recording. The first stereo release was on Victrola, AFAIK.The Classic reissue is a mock-up, using the Living Stereo banner over the cover(s) from the mono issue.
This record is from the Classical Records Deluxe 1S Edition Vol. I.
The sound is as good if not better than most of my 45rpm's, at least to my ears.;)

IIRC the Munch/Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique was never issued in stereo even as a Victrola. It was scheduled to be released in stereo along with the second batch of pre-1956 two-track recordings in 1960 - the two most famous LPs to come out of that second batch were LSC-1806 and LSC-1893 - but although a test pressing was made of LSC-1900 by RCA (and given the matrix numbers K2RY-2380 and K2RY-2381), nothing ever came of it commercially. In fact, the first commercial stereo release of this 1955 recording did not arrive until the Gold Seal and .5 series incarnations came out in the late 1970s.For the record, I have this LSC-1900 as a Classic Records 45rpm 4-disc single-sided set.
K2RY-2380 is the one which I have.

Actually, K2RY-2380 and K2RY-2381 are the matrix numbers for Side 1 and Side 2, respectively, of the cancelled original RCA LSC-1900 release.
Oh, ok. Thanks for the info. But than there is no way to tell the difference between a 1S reissue and a 'normal' reissue, or is there ? The 1S from the Deluxe box has no stamp which could indicate that. It looks exactly the same.

Where she tries to answer the question, can her quirky personality overcome my aversion to urban and euro-trash disco music? Verdict's still out, but at least its a cool picture disc.
the last two dics, this is as good as it gets in vinyl except maybe some other stuff. y'all ought to try some mosaic boxed vinyl, the miles/gil is even better (for me).

very nice nite for vinyl.

Ain't that one a wonder of uncompressed analog rock beauty? Just perhaps a little unfit for the faint of heart...
My heart can handle such things but I don't think most people's can, you are right. They prefer things more compressed, airbrushed and otherwise smoothed out. What most consider "good sound", (Toto, Forigner, etc) just has nothing to hold one's interest, either in the music or the recording. You could listen to Glass House 10 times and hear something new each time.

me too!!Anybody ever noticed that the UK LP runs a little fast?? Compare it with the German or US copies...very strange.

I was introduced to the Nighthawks' music by a friend who had helped finance their first LP! John Squires is a blues hound...lives, breathes, and I believe, could even bleed the blues. They have played at the Western Maryland Blues Fest which is the reason I began an Asylum related event that is now known as "Ribfest"...information about this year's fest will be found at your nearest Central Asylum in the (short) future!
Sleaze the day!
It's My Life, We've got to get out of this Place, Don't Let me be Misunderstood on my "new" CJ PV-5. Life is good!
and I have ALWAYS found it sounded good, on any old playback thing you would have! We had a Quality blue label, from Canada I guess. Wish I'd find that one again! I was also, as a young kid, very impressed with Eric Burdon's low and vibrant voice and the "darkness" of some of the material on that. I still think that as a singer, he was the best of the whities!

Nitt Gritty Dirt Band.....I have been rummaging through the stacks tonight....fun

My favorite album of the year...
Beautiful.
Mine as well. I'm surprised to see this is probably the first it's been mentioned here.
Is this album on vinyl?
