Simple, actually: your system is becoming more adept at resolving the fine points of each format--the positives of analog become more evident, as do the negatives of digital. All your system is doing is getting more truthful, which is something we should all strive for. A poor-resolution system will tend to homogenize sources, and make them sound alike. The bad ones (generally digital) will not be revealed in all their awfulness, and the good ones (generally analog) will not be revealed in all their wonderfulness. The result: a half-assed version of each, both of which tend to sound equally mediocre.
