I'm sure you're on the right track...
Here is what things look like...
the drawing is just for informational purposes...
all inputs are correct. I've triple checked them....
Its gotta be something with the grounding...

It's a poor practice to use different colors schemes on the unbalanced left and right input circuitry. But this isn't going to make any difference in sound, just cause confusion.
One other curious asymmetry in the diagram is the power wiring to the circuit boards. Are you sure the polarity of the power wiring is correct? Of course this could just be an artifact of the diagram.

thanks...I corrected that. The actual amp wiring refects the correction.
on a 24" monitor zoomed to the max, photo #2, Left has Red to Hot on RCA jack.
Lacking a closeup of both jacks and both PCBs, I can only judge what I see in the posted photos, and the sample board linked below.
Not sure the reason for not wiring both inputs the same way, color-wise.
