Don't post here often but always lurking.
About a year ago I changed an outlet to a Leviton that I don't remember the model of but I know I did have to order it online as HD or Lowes didn't have it.
This was in my audio area and noticed a distinct improvement. I had ordered three of them to defeat minimum charges.
Decided to put one in my computer room, glad I did. Seems to be a lot smoother and quicker.
Anyway my question is that when I changed the original outlet I had two sets of black and whites plus the ground wire but in the computer room had only one set of black and white plus ground.
Is this because it's the last oulet on that circuit?
To experts this is probably a dumb question but I've got very little AC knowledge and have a healthy repect for what it can do if not right.
Thanks

Are you saying replacing an electrical outlet made your computer run faster?
I don't quite know how to describe the speed improvement in technical terms.
Maybe consistently quicker. Less hitches. As other poster said monitor is better and video playback is more realistic and a lot less jittery.
Overall better performance I guess.
Unlike subtle sound or video improvements that can easily be imagined, processing speed, data transfer rates, and graphic performance of a computer can be reliably measured.
My 'puter is run through a Furu FI-15 Cu outlet. it'd be a hard claim to say taht any computing aspect of my pc is better, but the monitor looks better, my ipod sounds better and cd/dvd copies i make improved a lot.
faster? that'd be a tall one.
The other potential, but HIGHLY unlikely, answer is that it's a homerun (dedicated line) to your computer room. However, I think Julien has the right/true answer to your question.
Thanks guys.
I'm sure it's not a dedicated line. Just didn't want to blow anything up.
Appreciate the help.

Yes, you are correct

But not gauranteed.
Even if it's a home run it's still the last device
(it's also the first device)

The assumption here is that the splicing was done *in the receptacle outlet box. That's 'typical', that's 'probable'. It's not for certain.
OP didn't state age or description of the residence in question. Convenience receptacle splicing could easily have been done in overhead (attic/crawlspace) boxes w/ vertical drops, or underfloor (basement) splicing with vertical risers.
There's 1MM ways to skin a cat, there's 1.5MM ways to wire a dwelling, especially considering the quantity of electrified residences in the US since - as a rough start date: 1920. What's a certainty is that not every one of the residences in the US was wired by an experienced inside wireman fully knowledgeable in the Codes in place at the time. Let alone past or present occupants of a dwelling that think they are 'weekend warrior' self-proclaimed electricians that are going to 'add on to' or 'enhance' their residential wiring system.
I'm not surprised by anything anymore. I will 'never see it all.' I have an example in my neighborhood of Type NM Romex, run outdoors exposed, aerially w/o a messenger, on wooden posts maybe 8-10 feet above grade, and at a public facility.

You're right. We all assumed "typical and probable" without thinking about the other possibilities. A wise man once told me "you don't see is the same as you don't know". Thanks for reminding me of that.

That's sounds about right... and probably some would be within code ;~)

WELL if nothing is connected to it then it pretty much has to be the last thing on that leg.
