I have a Heathkit IT 3117 which has a really limited number of tubes on the scroll chart. Anyone know the settings to test a 5AR4? Thanks!
Follow Ups:
I don't usually test 5AR4's. It seems that either work or they don't. I don't ever recall seeing a weak one.
The usual failure mode is internal arcing, causing fuse to blow. If it's not doing that, it's probably OK. If it is doing that, a tube tester probably wont catch it anyway, because a tester applies a much lower voltage than most actual circuits.
Should be the same as a GZ34?
Thanks, yes I know that. The scroll chart for my tube checker is extremely limited. I think the only 5v rectifier it has is for a 5U4, not the same as a 5AR4 / GZ34.
Does the tester have a setup for 5V4? If so, use that but expect healthier than normal readings. If nothing else, you'll be able to check for shorts and basic operation.

Thanks for your generous offer! Unfortunately, no longer in PDX. My wife and I moved to the midwest in March to be closer to her family and grandkids.
I really should invest in a better quality tube tester, I guess.
All the best,
Steve
