Folks can I use a tube with broken getter? Just received a pair, and noticed one of them has a broken getter, which rattles inside if shaken. Before I open a case I thought I should ask first here, as I'm very curious too. It's on the left tube in the picture.
Appreciate your help.

That's what I thought. Unbelievable, I've never seen something like that.
Though I have not encountered this before except a very small piece of broken mica (non-conductor), I wouldnt take the risk if I were you. Getter is a conductor and may cause short, which in turn may damage your other components in your amp.
yes.....a Getter is generally metalic. Some contain some unusual materials And Aluminum.
They either REACT with gasses or ADSORB gasses to help maintain vauum purity.
Even though my only experience with getters is in high-vacuum systems for semiconductor processing, I would NOT run a tube as in the photo.
A short could create problems, for sure, but OTHER things may happen as well....and create downstream problems in weeks or months.
Too much is never enough
I would NEVER use such a tube. I wouldn't even plug it in to see if it works. If that ring ever makes its way into the lower parts of the tube the fireworks might be spectacular.

It doesn't have to make it's way to the lower part. There's plenty of places it can short out at the top, above the mica.
Yikes! That's a return.
