I recently bought a used tube integrated amp which came with GL KT-88s, and generic stock small signal tubes. I put in a pair of Tungsol reissue 6SN7GTBs that I had laying around. The 6SL7s are still stock.
1. What current production or NOS 6SL7s within $100/pair would be a good choice? I noticed that Tungsol reissues are available in that range?
2. Can I do better than Tungsol reissue 6SN7s for <= $100 pair. I asked Jim McShane and he seemed to indicate that in that price range what I have is hard to beat. Are the Psvane variants any good?
3. What about the KT88s? Anything that can better GLs within $250/quad? Jim says no. Any opinion on Mullard KT88s or JJ KT88s?
I am still auditioning the amp, but so far it sounds nice, lush and musical with good presence and sound staging. If any of those qualities can be improved without hurting smoothness or long term listenability, I am all ears.
TIA.

Follow Ups:
The NOS RCA, Raytheon, Sylvania and TS sound terrific!
The 6SU7 is also a great sounding option - as are the Brimar 6SL7 tubes from the 1960's...all are within $100 a pair.
Cheers!
There are NOS that are very worth your consideration.
In my old amp, the RCA VT-229 (milspec 6SL7) was the best of the domestic production,
with the Tung-Sol a close second.
The T-S was actually the better of the two in a phono-pre that I had.
Sylvania was not in the same league with those two.
The absolute best in my amp is the old Philips ECC35.
I have unused NOS examples of the RCA, Tung-Sol, and ECC35 if you are interested in them.
Members can email me.
...and where can you get RCA VT-229 or TS 6SL7 for $100/pair?
I took my old amp out of service, and all of the tubes I have that are appropriate to that amp are no longer needed and I will sell at reasonable prices.
Take a look at these:

I have bought a pair from this seller but have yet to really listen to them as I have been enjoying my mullard ecc35 too much.
Where are NOS 6SL7's going for more than $50 each? Any particular kind? If y'all answer, 'everywhere' I think I shall convert some into additions to my Iron collection for the next amps. How 'bout 6SU7GTY? Those can't be $50 each...can they?

Friend, I would not hurt thee for the world...but thou art standing where I am about to shoot.

You should be able to find NOS Sylvania VT-229's that sound excellent for under $100 for a pair. If the current production prices are similar, that would make the choice even easier. I would pay more for NOS if that is the case.
Are you saying that this device uses 6SL7 and 6SN7 ?
You probably don't want to sub between those two types if only one of them is called for.
Correct. I am NOT swapping one for the other.

The GL KT 88's are hard to beat. Try searching here for various 6SL7's.
The new Tung Sols are ok but old production 6SL7's are not expensive and worth a look. Tube World Express is well regarded. Check with them for recommendations. Enjoy the new amp.
I don't have wide experience with 6SL7s (I have no experience with Euro equivalents or the Melz NOS 6H9C for example), but of the US made ones I have tried my preferred tube is the TungSol 6SU7GTY (NOS)
