All caps infers shouting. You might convey the wrong impression. Just a friendly suggestion.VANDERSTEEN RULES!
I highly recommend Vandersteen's own 2wq sub- I've had several listening sessions with the 2wq and it's superb. I'm planning to add it my system (I have 2ce sigs) when the budget permits. I've also listened to the 3's and while they are excellent speakers, I honestly felt the 2ce sigs were just as good.
HI,THANKS FOR THE REPLY. WOULD YOU BUY USED FROM AUDIOGON?
ALSO I READ ON THE VANDY SITE THAT R.V. RECOMMENDS 2
SUBS.HAVE YOU HEARD THE VANDY'S WITH 1 OR 2 SUBS,JUST CURIOUS?THANKS
would never go back. The add so much to my system. Also, you avert any bass management problems with SACD or DVD-A.I am actually thinking about getting another pair of 2wq's for my rear channels as my speakers pull double duty for home theater and audio.

I heard a single 2wq with the sigs, sounded great. There are advantages to a stereo pair of subs-if your budget allows, I'd say go for it. The 2wq has the advantage of adjustable bass contour, which allows you to optimize for either music or home theater.Roger's advice is well taken-biwiring is a must. Richard Vandersteen practically insists on it by not including jumpers with 2ce's. I use Tara labs 2+2 biwire cable with mine.
No experience with audiogon, although feedback around here is generally very good.
Red,I purchased a pair of used Vandersteen 2ce signature speakers and several pieces of electronics on Audiogon. I have not had a problem with any of the transactions. Check the seller ratings, ask questions about the age, condition, typical use and system.
A couple of important points: buy only if the seller has the orignal boxes and cardboard inserts - this will help prevent potential damage by the shipping company. Purchase a pair with sound anchor stands, the Vandy's do not sound good without them. You should fill the stands with sand and/or lead shot for the best bass response. Finally, its always best to look over and listen to speakers before buying. That's what I did, picking up a mint cherry pair of 2ce signatures last year through Audiogon for under $1k. There are thousands of these great sounding floor speakers out there and I see regular ads on Audiogon, so you might try to exercise a little patience (I know its hard)and look for a somewhat local pair.
One last note, when you purchase a pair I highly encourage you bi-wire the speakers. Also, these speakers do best with a fairly high current solid state amp (> 100 watts rms) or tube amp with at least 60 watts rms. I am currently running an Odyssey stratos amplifier (150 watts rms)and Audible Illusions M3A tube preamp combination with excellent results.
Best of luck with your hunting.
