Looking for some advice on using Zu DW 6 speakers in a small room (11' x 11'). They are on my short list along with Kef LS50. Power is Rogue Sphinx V3 - sources are Lumin U2 mini, Cambridge CXC V2, Schiit Bifrost, and Basis 1400/Vector arm with Hana ML.
I'm recently retired with a fixed income now so I'd like stay under 3k.
I like not having to add a sub with the Zu as space is a premium in this room - I believe the KEF LS50 probably would require one.
Listen to mostly Jazz and classic/garage rock - typically at lower volume.
Anyone using the Zu's in a small room - I'd like to hear from you - or if you can think of other speakers that may work within the space I have.
Thanks!!
Follow Ups:
When I was a teenager, I had Altec Lasing model 19's in a 10' x 10' bedroom the bass was great in the small room good times. If you want Zu get them life is to short, make yourself happy get the speakers you want and enjoy them.
Pull the trigger ... jazz will never sound better. You might want to add KLH 5 to the list, however!
I think you will be more than ok. I run Zu speakers in two of my systems; Dirty Weekenders with a Prima Luna Prologue 5/ Musical Fidelity CD Pre 24 in a 15 X 18 room and Omen bookshelves, alternating with a Rogue Sphinx 3 and Heaven 11 Billie integrated, in a 10 X 15 room. CD and phono sources.
The Rogue will provide a lot of power to the Zu's, which is not a bad thing. How loud do you like to listen? I live in an apartment and don't go much past 70/ 75 db's.
The Zu's do well close to the rear wall. Have never considered using a sub. Sound is very full and alive.
Like yourself, I am recently retired. The Zu's represent an excellent value. I enjoy them for their aliveness and find them true to the music.
Have been through enough other speakers over the years, I really enjoy these. Have had the DWs for 4 years; the Omens for 2 years.

Buy the Spendor....just my 2 cents. My room is the same size basically. I'm using LRS+ in my small room.
Thanks for the tips - I'll research the suggestions presented here. My 30 plus year old B&W 804 might be a bit long in the tooth - I've had them so long I don't really know any other sound.
Others I'm looking at are the KEF R3 Meta and Spendor A2/4.
In my experience, DW's need more breathing room if you want to hear what they truly have to offer. When I moved them into my larger room, the presentation offered was much better on all fronts. As already noted, the DW really needs at least medium size room volume to reach its full potential.
What does work in my small room? Despite having good success with small monitor types, nothing surpasses the Ohm 1000. I think they've relocated and are still around, but best check this out first. Last price noted was $2800 with a 120 day audition period offered.
Add Tekton speakers to your list. The front ported design makes them very placement friendly. They are a touch less sensitive than the Zu and have models at many price points. I have the Lores in my bedroom system. They sound great a low levels an play pretty loud with myy 30WPC NAD D3020.

Look at some Reference 3A de Capos. great detailed good bass for floor standers, efficient and nice sound at low volumes.
I use mine in a 12 x 20 room with a low watt tube amp

This is a hobby, do what you feel is right for you. I have larger Zu speakers driven by a Cary Audio but in a fairly large room (20 x 20), and I love their sound. All the Zu speakers use the same 10" full range driver That has been around since ZU's beginning, and I have read only positive results on the DW6 speakers on either low power SET amps, or on higher power amps. The only problem I see may be in keeping them a little away from the walls since they are ported and the big 10" pushes a lot of air.
A speaker I would like to try in a small bedroom is the MoFi SourcePoint 8 designed by Andrew Jones. It also has rear ports, so not for too close to the wall. The reviews for this one are extremely positive and I like the idea of the concentric tweeter design.
My personal thoughts ( & that's all they are ) is that it would be too sensitive, especially with that amp for that size room. Except for my living room i'm running low powered tube amps ( NoRH SE9 & Quicksilver mini mites @ 25wpc ) in my small 11x11 bedroom & 12x13 computer room. YMMV.
