Are corners more effective placement for absorbers?
Follow Ups:
I'd have to go back to "the literature", but there is some evidence which shows that "the corners" of a room receive more reflections than other areas, just from a statistical perspective. As a result, that's the best place to catch more fish. (Oops, I meant "absorb more energy".)
> there is some evidence which shows that "the corners" of a room receive more reflections than other areas <Yes, and I see it as a focusing effect similar to cupping a hand over your ear. Or think of it like a TV dish antenna.

> Are corners more effective placement for absorbers? <Yes, for bass trapping anyway.
How about for mid and high frequencies, besides the bass ?Should I place basstraps on 4 corners, and where the ceiling meets the side walls, should I place absorbers?
Thanks to all those already posted - you are saving me tons of work, since I am new to this. I don't want to make big mistakes in DIY acoustic treatments.
> How about for mid and high frequencies, besides the bass ? Should I place basstraps on 4 corners, and where the ceiling meets the side walls, should I place absorbers? <This is a deep subject, and a complete answer requires far more than will fit into a single reply here. The short version is:
* Broadband (not tuned) bass traps in as many corners as you can manage, including the wall-ceiling corners.
* Mid/high frequency absorption at the first reflection points on the side walls and ceiling.
* Some additional amount of mid/high absorption on any large areas of bare parallel surfaces, such as opposing walls or the ceiling if the floor is reflective.

Thanks a lot Ethan - exactly what I needed !I will definitely check your sight out.
I am a musician, so this is very important to me - for my career actually. We are trying to make a few CDs, and this kind of expert advice is what I need.
I just love the sound of a well tuned room - playing my favorite recordings ! ... and I am excited at the prospect of achieving that in my room.
Regards,
