Hi ,Am getting my own house soon and would like your help and advise on my Hifi Layout.
See attached diagrams on Front-View and Top-View of the layout.
My space is a long rectangular room (L6.6 x W3.3m x H2.4m).
On the left-end of the room is floor-to-ceiling glass-windows , and the right-end opens to Dining-Room (no dividing walls).
Basically , my speakers are along the long wall , roughly at the middle.
Listening Sofa is against the opposite wall.Notes : -
The positions of the AV-Cabinet , TV , and Listening-Sofa cannot be changed (WAF factors).
The TV is a 42" Flat Plasma hanging on the wall (i.e. lots of flat glass surface).
Ecophon Master panel (thickness is 40mm or 3/4inches) applied on front-wall (to eliminate 1st reflections off that wall).
Ecophon Master is applied on a big area of the ceiling, rather than only reflection points because of aesthetics (WAF factor).
There would not be any side-wall reflections since there is wall left/right of the speakers.Concerns : -
Reflective Surface of the 42" TV glass surface.
Distance of speakers are too far apart (2.5m) , and will affect soundstage and imaging.
Doubling of Room-modes (especially with the room length exactly a multiple of 2 of the width)
Would like to have your comments and advise on my concerns ,
and also any othe ideas or treatments i may consider. Thanks very much.
Follow Ups:
Sorry, i don't have photos to show yet.
I bought a resale house and it is totally empty at the moment. What i described is what i have thought through, discussed with my wife and intend to do (eg the size of the room is fixed, the dimensions of the AV-Cabinet defined according to various storage needs, the area/position of the Ecophons on the ceiling and front-wall is as shown in my sketch and will cover the 1st reflection points).
If there is anything critical and not clear to you , you could ask and i will clarify. Or perhaps you could just give general pointers where i might need to give more thought, that would be appreciated.
Nonetheless, if you feel you are unable, i still thank you for your kindness in trying to help out here.Cheers.

Steve,> Concerns : -
> Reflective Surface of the 42" TV glass surface.Unless your speakers are facing at the glass, that's not a big problem. Much more important is treating the "real" first reflection points.
> Doubling of Room-modes (especially with the room length exactly a multiple of 2 of the width) <
This is not the end of the world. Unless you're in a position to move the walls, there's little to be gained by worrying about what could have been. Just treat the room with bass traps as best you can manage, and know that the low end is as good as it can be under the circumstances.
Hi Ethan ,Thanks so much for your reply.
Suddenly it occured to me that the right end of the room has no wall and opens out to the Dining-Room. In that case, does that constitute a doubling of room-mode ?Would appreciate your advise with some other questions : -
(1) Having such a large area of Ecophon Master on the ceiling , isn't this an overkill and would it cause serious undesirable/deterimental effect ? Maybe the room would be too dead ?
What effect would this have on the soundstage height ?(2) For the surround-speakers on the back wall, how should i optimise their placement on the wall ? I am thinking of placing them as high up near the ceiling as possible, and far out/away from the listening sofa, and firing vertically down rather than tilted and aimed towards the sofa. I think that would create a bigger surround field/effect, since i cannot have the surround-speakers behind the sofa as is the usual recommended position.
(3) Do you think the Main-Speakers (front L/R) are much too far apart ? Should i negotiate to shorten the AV-Cabinet ? I do not want to regret later once the cabinet is made.
Thanks and Cheers !

Steve,I can't see enough from those drawings to be more specific. Can you post some photos?
