IMO speakers are such low impedance and runs are short the wire is not critical. #14 or #12 gauge should perform fine with copper conductor wire. I use zip cord.

That's not the issue here on this thread.
Type of wire, gauge of wire, quality of wire, cost of wire are separate issues from the subject of this thread. Directionality is independent of those other factors. Now the metal lead as a conductor material might be interesting since it's not directional.
