Expansion is limited with only 2 SATA ports, and a single PCI slot, but there is a mini PCI Express slot which is a new addition. The board also lacks an ATX12V 4-pin connector.

I didn't get what the reviewer meant by "The board also lacks an ATX12V 4-pin connector" as there something that looks, from here at least, very much like an ATX12V 4-pin connector at the bottom of the second pic DR posted.
As the Atom doesn't need a separate power supply, I've no idea what it's for. (OTOH, the review was apparently of a pre-production model so it might not be there in the "real thing".)
BTW, a two-core version of the Fit-PC is due out before long.
Where did you here about the dual core FitPC2? I don't know if they will be able to air cool a dual core chip in such a small case.
As best as I can tell by comparing the reviewed unit to the info off Intel's website, the reviewed box included the D510M0 mobo and a separate ATX-type power supply board that runs on 12v. The mobo itself is run by a standard ATX supply... and the PicoPSU would be an appropriate source.
The P4 connector is from the ATX power supply board.
