I am not going to spend $800 of my time modifying the unit. I shall rely on my dac/relocker.Playing the thing thru, my unit sounds fine w/o the relocker.
Would you expect the wave shape posted if the cable had not been terminated?

No, there probably would have been some overshoot and undershoot and ringing. However minimum using a HC part though.
So if you didnt use a high-impedance scope probe, did you connect it direct to the BNC 50 ohm scope input?

If that's a yes, then this explains two things:
1) the lower amplitude
2) the slower risetimes
If you have a 75 ohm series terminated transmission-line driving a 50 ohm load, that's a no-no.

Why do you think anyone would terminate 75R into 50R?
Because oscilloscopes only come with High-Z inputs and 50 ohm inputs, not 75 ohms. You said you were not using a probe....
