It's hard to say if you will perceive any sonic improvements given the huge number of ways Roon can be implemented with numerous components.
Why not just give it a try since you have the subscription?
Follow Ups:
I like the UX and may try it again soon. It would be helpful to have some idea as to whether the expected gains are worth effort; I have enough work, professional development and projects in my life that I don't need to go looking for more, even relatively trivial ones. Still, the way to find out is by trying it myself.

What I heard with my setup was a more relaxed sound with images less upfront sounding. This was closer to what I hear with my vinyl setup. Bass was better defined as well.
The overall clarity was enhanced with 1.8.
I also think 1.8 sounds better - more presence and 'thereness'.
It's always a bit tricky to be sure of these judgements when you can't easily revert and listen to the previous version.
I've previously used HQPlayer with Roon as I wasn't sold on the SQ.
At the moment I'm listening without any DSP/upsampling engaged.
Running Roon on a 2020 M1 Mac Mini into a Benchmark DAC3.
System Info
In my system, which already sounds relaxed, the previous version of Roon seemed to present music as a little dull. Not sure this latest version is a step in the right direction for me though I will try it at some point.
Cheers.
