I'm considering changing my DAC, a Gustard X12. My amp is a Yaqin MC-13S (tube). Would a tubed DAC and tube amp be to much of a good thing? I'm considering the Musical Paradise MP-D1 MK3 ES9028Q2M TUBE DAC.
Follow Ups:
I just changed over to a Musical Paradise DAC MK2 from an old Yulong DAC about two weeks ago. I have a Modded Unison Research Hybrid amp, and JRiver.
I was hesitant about a tube DAC with my tube amp, but am quite pleased with the sound. Not good if you are a rock'n roller expecting slam and huge attack but wonderful for vocals and piano. I'm mostly a jazz fan with electronica mixed in.
However, I also use a Slate Digital recording studio tool, which allows me to really customize the sound to my liking. I'm not sure why more people don't play with studio recording tools like this. They are truly wonderful. I used Stillwell 1973 for over ten years prior to Slate Digital products.
Good luck.

tube buffer worth a try?
There must be something wrong with me for not having something wrong.
If I'm going for 'tube sound' I tend to prefer doing it with a tube preamp + amp or tube integrated while keeping the source components more transparent with less coloration. That would mean a solid-state DAC or CDP with tubes downstream. But that's just me.
