Just want to finish up. Connected litedacAH and Master7 to my preamp so i can go back and forth. Here is what I discovered. The LitedacAH is definetly colored. Especially mid and low base. The Master7 is much tighter in these areas. The Master 7 has more resolution and is cleaner sounding. Listening to my own recordings the Master7 is more accurate. But I want to be clear, despite its faults the LitedacAH is a very good dac and should be auditioned if you are strapped for funds, maybe even if your not

My Master 7 is on the way to the dump!
I thought if it couldn't outperform a $200 DAC, it has to go!
Hope I can catch the Waste Management truck before he arrives at the landfill!
I'll post back later if I catch that truck!

Good thing I double boxed it before I threw it in the dumpster.

I loved mine a lot but as it turns out I actually slightly prefer the PS Audio NuWave DSD DAC.

If so, did you try the QB-9 DSD using the balanced inputs on the AX7e?
I've had to retire my 300B SET amps and horns in our new, arguably LARGER living space here in Santa Fe so I managed to glom onto a used AX7e that left the factory as an 'e' and has a positive service history with the good folks at Ayre.
Space is my current concern, and the size and weight of the Audio-GD DAC make it a hard choice in my current living situation.

I bought mine used a few years ago on Audiogon. I see them now and then at even lower prices and I think its a bargain among many pricier integrateds. After trying various integrated amps for my home office I decided to keep the Ayre AX-7e. I love the way it sounds. It's not a hugely powerful amp at 60wpc but it sounds awesome driving my 91db Tannoys in the bedroom size office.
The Rogue Cronus Magnum tube amp is another favorite of mine. It lives down in the basement system and I would bring it up to the office in the winter months but I find the Ayre to be just fine so the Ayre has been a permanent fixture in my office for a couple years now.
Yes, I drove the Ayre AX-7e from the balanced outputs of the QB-9 DSD DAC - and the PS Audio NuWave DSD DAC as well as the TEAC UD-501.
The QB-9 DSD DAC is outstanding. The reason I sold mine is because I got a good deal on my PS Audio NuWave DSD DAC and it sounds ever so slightly warmer. And I had over $1600 tied up in the Ayre DAC and used the sale proceeds to fund something else. One is not better than the other to my ear, I just happen to prefer the slightly fuller warmer tone of the PS Audio DAC.

Ayre AX7e really does prefer a balanced input.
Running it now with the balanced output of my Audio-GD Master 7 fully balanced multi-PCM1704 R2R ladder DAC.
Pretty good match, I'd have to say.
