And it's therefore necessary for you to use the Regen's PSU, correct?

I am using a 9V linear I already had to power the Regen and hence the Nano. The Nano works well as a converter, Xmos chip. There are better, but I also had the Nano already. From what I have read that Breeze DU-U8 USB converter is excellent sounding and a bargain.

yep
after a couple of hours of research, it seems the new generation of usb to spdif converter like the breeze du u8 using XMOS are amazing for the price.
guy sold his 800$ converter for the breeze, the breeze rival the ramp at 1500$. I was about to buy a gustard when everyone talked about how the breeze was much better then the Gustard.I ordered one!

Hi !
you say " guy sold his 800$ converter for the breeze, the breeze rival the ramp at 1500$ ".
Which unit is the "ramp" ? could you give me a link ?
Thanks a lot.
Kind regards,
bg
the 800$ unit is the hydra z.
Empirical Audio Off Ramp Turbo is the 1500$ unit and winnner of the 2013 shootout

http://www.adsforwebsite.org/t/736294/gustard-u12-usb-interface-8-core-xmos-chip/3045for best bang for the buck, I think the breeze or the dxio pro3a is it. but the pro3a is more expensive and needs a LPS and since that technology (DDS) seems to be progressing very fast, i rather not spend too much on a unit that will be outdated in two years!

Hi and thanks a lot for the very helpful advice.
These units are getting popular.
Kind regards,

So cheap....
Thanks again for this.....
From my perspective: if i end up staying in USB-land with a NAA: I'm going to want to get a "better" converter. All the ones that I am looking at are/near $1000, - much more than I want to spend...

I agree, much more than I would spend also. I really think you can find very good stuff at a reasonable price point.
There is ALWAYS something better but the numbers can become prohibitive.
