I use a Macbookpro/Audioquest Jitterbug/ Lightspeed 10g usb cable/ Regen/ Gustard U12/ Auduio-GD Master 7 dac. I had the Jitterbug and Regen in the system when I got the Gustard. I have not gone back and re-evaluated the Jitterbug and Regen, but I will do so when I have some time and patients. Of the three devices the Gustard made the biggest sonic improvement

So it would be your call that the Gustard U12 USB to S/PDIF beats the internal Amanero USB > I2S card in your Master 7?
Well, I guess I'll be able to do "MacBook Air/AQ Jitterbut/Supra USB/Regen/Sorry, No Gustard U12 yet/Audi-GD Master ll DAC" as soon as I get my Regen I ordered in late October.
And buy a Gustard U12 as they are a pretty good deal on Amazon and eBay.
Now I wish I had taken the trouble to order the I2S jack wired to match the Gustard giving me another option to play with.
Truth be told I'm very happy just going from my laptop to the DAC and hooking up my HD-600 using a balanced cable. Haven't even thought about messing with the DAC's factory settings.

Yes. I am using the aes/ebu or XLR spdif output. The I2S output in the Gustard is HDMI while my master 7 has a J45 I2S input. Can't make this work. I also have a Breeze converter and Melodius converter coming and they are both supposed to be better than the Gustard. Lucky that these converters are not that expensive. When I get them all I will do a complete review. By the way the Audio-GD dacs sound great with there internal USB converters. The Gustard just sounds better to me.

Yes it did. But at the time I did not know anything about I2S over HDMI or J45. Any how the Gustard sounds so good I am pleased . As I said the Amenero is also very good

if it ever gets here.
Then perhaps a PS upgrade for it but likely will wait and see what Uptone comes up with.
I have known John Swenson for what seems like forever (he's a tube DIYer as well and I think I first met him at VSAC many moons ago). I would trust his judgement on technical issues and that would include a PS upgrade if Uptone comes up with one and John has a hand in it.
The Breeze DU-U8 USB is said to b better.
that sill might be the way to go for me.
That said, I strongly suspect the AMANERO USB> I2S which now comes with the Audio-GD Master 7/11 is fine and perhaps a step up from what was being used before.
Again, nothing price prohibitive here.
