I was surprised to discover that roon does a cool job of sorting out classical libraries. But not all the time.
I am particularly impressed that for each composer, roon can sort compositions by opus number, or better still, by the date of the composition. Then for each composition, it shows all performances in the library, displaying not only the performer, but also the date and the place of the performance.
It even provides a decent description of each composition, the source of which is a mystery to me.
Beats JRMC by a mile.
But sorting by artist is not so good. Can't even find some of the albums in my library. Well, let us hope they will that.

I love the music of Dmitri Shostakovich
I don't claim to fully understand Roon but on the surface it appears to be a very expensive 'aggregator' and 'manager' for all of your local music content and streaming services. A pretty face on top of everything else?
Anyone care to summarize what Roon really is? What is the true value proposition for Roon? Why would anyone need it, especially with it's very expensive pricing?

For those with large collections or users of Tidal, Roon integrates data and delivers metadata that allows you to explore your collection in new ways. Check out the video Chris from CA made. The more I use it, the more I like it and understand it.

Good info. Thanks Steve. It's probably not for me though.

I think the beauty of Roon is you can learn more about the music, artists etc you already own and find new music. Like never ending liner notes.
It can add to the listening experience, but can also be a distraction depending on ones mood I guess.

If you have a large collection, it will link similar music, performances of the same song, etc. for exploration in your collection.
It goes way beyond Google.
But as you stated Abe, its not for everyone.
Understand. It's probably just what some folks need especially for classical.

... roon seems to allow me to browse my classical collection in a sensible way. Although there are still bugs there.
And yes, "integrate" the library with Tidal, i.e. browse them simultaneously.
E.g. I can see all 8 performances of Beethoven 2nd PC in my library at the same time, and some 40+ performances at Tidal. And I can scroll all Beethoven opuses in my collection chronologically, or by opus number.
Roon also pulls a lot of additional metadata for composers, their individual opuses(!), artists, etc which is a nice bonus.
I find the library interface to be the crucial element for classical music lover.
I have not yet tried roon to play music, but I am encouraged I can use jPlay ASIO driver.
