You have to have an account at Logitech to run it. The Pluggins that allow an Interface to Spotify are all supported by Logitech. The updates to your SBT are all downloaded from Logitech. If they drop support for LMS, it's pretty much over for LMS.

Squeezebox lite is on the players, LMS is on a computer or NAS drive.

Many of these devices can attach to an LMS, - but may or may not be capable of playing apps like Spotify that are Squeezebox lite apps...

the Sonore Orbiter does play Squeezebox lite, but it only outputs USB.
