I have not heard this but just by looking at the pictures it is not a particularly good implementation. They say it is a flagship design, but I don't see anything close to being flagship about this. They boast about high quality FR4 board material and then use very poor board layout.
There are lots of other not very good things bout this design, yeah it will probably work, but it's not going to be anything "great".

the Buffalo Board which is more flexible and can include power supply. The prices are not dissimilar.
I posted it because it says that it is an 'official' ESS design.
There are actually a number of completed Chinese ESS9018 dacs. I'll buy a bargain one that looks really good and will post if it cuts the ice. I have tried one of their usb to aes designs and it sounds really good compared to a host of others of different origins. A full function box cost me £160 delivered. Of the two XOs they use, the 44.1k related one is switched out when 48k related frequencies are used, and vice versa.
The usb unit ouputted via spdif (modfified to get rid of the horrible sounding phono socket) into the Mytek DSD 192 sounds better than the Mytek's Rigisystems usb input, and the aes input sounds really good into the Mytek stock aes.
The Mytek spdif input socket has also been replaced with a BNC 75R one.
It looks worse than many manufacturer supplied design notes and eval boards.... but I'd be more included to buy the official eval board.

It looks very good, but the problem is that it has only spdif input and no I2S (used for USB input)
from hyduino site:
"This board only supports a single input (and because it only uses DATA 1 (a single data line), it only supports spdif input)."
