Agreed. But I also noted another benefit in my system. This mode seems more immune to software differences in the computer when it comes to subtle sonic changes. (And more prone to various buffering glitches that do occur if the computer is trying to run HQPlayer and other software such as Firefox at the same time.)

Tony, have you worked out a way of changing phase on the fly with the Mytek, using a remote?
I am sensitive to phase but pressing buttons and twisting the knob is just too much.
My Mytek is at arm's reach, so I have never tried to use a remote. I have configured the FN1 button to reverse phase, enabling me to reverse phase with a single button push. In normal use I also twist the knob, as it is my commonly used volume control. (I normally keep the Mytek in digital volume control mode to bypasses a bunch of opamps. This works for both PCM and DSD input, but not for the analog input.)
My recollection from reading the manual is that it is possible to set up a universal remote to control the FN1 function. If my recollection is correct this will allow you to do what you want.

Tony, how did you configure the 1 press FN1 button? Does the display show 0 and 180 therafter?
My unit is on the floor at present, and I need to lie under a desktop to cahnge settings!
I don't recall how I configured the FN1 button. I did what the manual said and it worked. While I was at it, I also configured the FN2 button to do "mute". RTFM, but be prepared to be confused for an hour on how the menu commands work as it is different from other "twist and push" interfaces. Also, note that the manual has two diagrams of the navigation graph, one using readable words and the other using the funny character set necessitated by the LED display.
When you alter polarity the right part of the display where the sample rate (or dsd or Hdsd) is displayed briefly flashes with a "neg" or "pos" to show you what the new polarity is. This isn't the greatest in human engineering, but if you have forgotten you can always push the FN1 button twice. It would be better if Mytek borrowed a pixel to show the current polarity, similar to what they do while digital volume control is enabled.

have tried to copy the dCS menu system which is excellent. Unfortunately perhaps cost constraints have ruined their party.
I'll try!
