Hi Tony!
With all respect, Archimago doesn't seem to find the contrarian arguments of this board that are directed towards his blog to be persuasive, else why would he continue down the path he has taken? I freely admit that you and many others on this board are far more knowledgeable about electronics than I, but then so is Archimago.
Archimago posts a test on his blog. Denizens of this forum make a few obscure objections but then enter a nolle prosequi and decline to put on any case of their own. Is it really so surprising that an admittedly ignorant person such as myself would find Archimago's case to be more persuasive? On the one hand we have evidence, on the other we have complaints. Without contrary evidence, how on earth is an ignoramus to know that the complaints are valid?
I'm probably wasting everyone's time with this train of thought, aren't I?
All the best!

Just so you know, I have done some experimentation with DSD conversions, but I have declined to post the results because they did not measure up to my personal standards. I would have posted if I had come up with positive results that were repeatable. Getting positive results based on hardware measurements (e.g. involving analog signals) is very difficult unless one has measurement grade equipment, which I do not. I have also done purely software experiments involving format conversions, but where DSD was involved they were inconclusive because I did not have a suitable sigma-delta modulator that I could put into a digital test loop. As far as I can tell, the sonic properties of DSD signals are more a function of the converters (sigma delta modulators) than limitations of the format itself.
My comments to Archimago were intended to be constructive, i.e. to get him to realize he might be basing his work on assumptions that could be incorrect. This might not matter if he were doing this purely for fun, but I accorded him the benefit of the doubt and assumed that if he was making false assumptions he would want to know. (Of course my suggestions might be incorrect or inappropriate, but that would be up to him to decide.)

Hi Tony!
Fair enough. I'm not at all saying that Archimago's results are definitive or dispositive, but as a first approximation they are interesting and worthy of discussion. That doesn't seem to happen much here. In any case, however shaky, Archimago is putting evidence out there for all the world to see. Publishing is persuasive. Publishing is powerful. I read elsewhere in this forum that apparently a manufacturer is now quoting Archimago's site. Even if the doubters here are correct and Archimago is wrong, I don't hear of any manufacturer quoting any of the wisdom written on this site.

Funny you just heard about this. You came to this group just when this first happened, and just for this reason. Rather curious...

Maybe because most other manufactures have ethics.

The proper equipment and knowing how to use it matters!!!
What's next The Archimago Surgery Blog???
Thanks for the amusing image.
It would be even better if your images weren't involved in sticking it to someone.

Bill,
Not sticking it to someone.
I actually enjoy reading others opinions. I have no issue with what anyone chooses to think or say. The problem I have is when someone post a blog which is clearly for ENTERTAINMENT and then allows it to be used in a commercial smear campaign. I find that unethical.

Yes, and prevent sensible discussion.
Whether it is or not you should make acquaintance with the gerund.

Don't ask jaundiced questions. My English is as good, if not better than yours, judging by the standards of your posts.
... that you're dealing with a coward, and not very smart one at that, who has no reasonable arguments to present.
Except that in this case, it's not "as soon as" - everyone here knew that already, from previous interactions.
